Beaver coexistence devices are a unique construction project that defy conventional permitting pathways. The habitat benefits and ecological goods and services provided by beaver-managed flood plains are well understood, however the Best Management Practices for coexistence solutions have only recently been assembled and there is yet no straightforward permitting pathway through the regulatory framework. We are working with federal and state agencies in Oregon toward an expedited permitting process for beaver coexistence techniques including flow devices, tree and crop protection.
